Applications for VISAs
APPLICATIONS FOR NONIMMIGRANT VISAS
UC Riverside Internal Use Only
General Instructions for Submission
To apply for a nonimmigrant visa for a UCR employee or international researcher, a member of the department or control unit staff should complete the online application (See link below.) The online application will generate a system message to the international employee or researcher which will prompt that person to complete individual information necessary for visa processing. Once the individual information has been completed, the system will notify the department or control unit that the application is ready for a final review and approvals. Approval documentation is at the discretion of the department. The International Scholar Center recommends the following approval structure based on the visa types:
- J-1 New Visa Application or Extension- approved by faculty PI, Department Chair, and Dean
- H-1B New Visa Application or Extension - approved by faculty PI, Department Chair and Dean or head of control unit.
- H-1B applications, once all information is received and reviewed, must be routed to Kimberly Gentile online by department before the application will submit to the International Scholar Center.
The International Scholar Center will assume that all necessary departmental or control unit approvals are given to all applications submitted through the online system: isc.ucr.edu
